Additional Notes: United States Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 214 (VMFA-214), also known as the “Black Sheep,” is a United States Marine Corps fighter attack squadron. The squadron is currently based at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona, and flies the F-35B Lightning.  VMFA-214 has a rich history dating back to WW2 when it was originally formed as VMF-214. The squadron gained fame under the command of Major Gregory “Pappy” Boyington, whose exploits inspired the 1970s TV show “Baa Baa Black Sheep”. Over the years, the squadron has participated in numerous conflicts, including the Korean War, Vietnam War, and the Global War on Terrorism.
