United States Army Distinguished Service Cross (DSC) in blue cardboard box. The cardboard box is contract dated 1944/1945 and maker marked The Robbins Company. Medal has the slot broach stitched ribbon pin attachment system. The medal is not named or numbered. Appears to be late WW2 or Korea era. Worn condition.

 

Additional Notes: The Distinguished Service Cross (DSC) is the U.S. Army’s 2nd highest military decoration for soldiers who display extraordinary heroism in combat with an armed enemy force. During WW2, just over 5,000 awards were made. Army Air Forces Lieutenant Colonel John Meyer, Major General James Van Fleet, and Master Sergeant Llewellyn Chilson were 3-time recipients. Jeannette Guyot and Virginia Hall were the only 2 women to receive the award. A number of recipients of the Distinguished Service Cross in earlier conflicts were again honored in WW2.
