American Civil War Import Sword. No Scabbard. No sure what type of sword this one is, I believe it may be a foot officers’ sword. Several nicks on blade edge. Marked on blade ricasso with P.D.L. (Peter D. Luneschloss). Shagreen grip with brass twisted wire wrap. Blade length approximately 29 inches and overall length 34 3/4 inches. Worn condition with nicks on blade edge.
Additional Notes: The P.D.L. mark is for the Peter D. Luneschloss Company, the Luneschloss Company who also partnered with Tiffany & Co. during the Civil War to make all of their swords. The Luneschloss Company made all of their swords in Solingen, Germany and all their blades were made of Solingen Steel.
