SOLD 269-270 AD Bronze Antoninianus Roman Coin Victorinus . COIN589

269-270 AD Bronze Antoninianus Roman Coin Victorinus. Size approximately 3/4 inch across. Very heavily worn condition.

Additional Notes: Victorinus briefly ruled the Gallic-Roman provinces of western Europe from A.D. 269-271 when they existed separately from Rome. Rising through the ranks from soldier to emperor, Victorinus was an able military leader who fended off both internal and external threats. But his downfall was his penchant for pursuing married women, and he was killed in A.D. 271 by one of his own officers when he propositioned one too many wives.
