U.S. Manhattan Project Atomic Bomb Certificate 1945. United States of America War Department Army Service Forces – Corps of Engineers Manhattan District to certify that John A. McGill participated in work essential to production of the Atomic Bomb in WW2. Award in appreciation of service. August 6, 1945. Size approximately 11 inches x 8 3/4 inches. A very interesting certificate on work done in the Manhattan District on production of the Atomic Bomb. Worn condition, appears to have been removed from frame and matting, with some matting bits still stuck near top edge of certificate, just certificate.

 

Additional Notes: The Manhattan Project Atomic Bomb Certificate was awarded to individuals who contributed to the development of the atomic bomb during World War II. These certificates were issued by the U.S. War Department, Army Service Forces – Corps of Engineers, Manhattan District. They certified that the recipient had participated in work essential to the production of the atomic bomb, thereby contributing to the successful conclusion of World War II. The certificate was signed by Secretary of War Henry L. Stimson and typically included a statement of appreciation for the recipient’s effective service.
