US 5th Army Patch – WW2 . USP1118

United States 5th Army Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (Patch). The patch is fully embroidered with a snowy back. Most likely 1940s (WW2) era. Worn condition. The patch does not react to UV light (does not glow under blacklight).

ADDITIONAL NOTE: The U.S. 5th Army was one of the principal formations of the U.S. Army in the Mediterranean during WW2, and was the first American field army ever to be activated outside of the U.S. The 5th Army experienced some of the toughest fighting of WW2, where it was engaged on the Italian Front, which was, in many ways, often more reminiscent of the trench warfare of the Western Front in World War I.
