United States M1 bayonet. WW2 made M1 with 10-inch blade (this is not the cut down 16-inch blade, blood grove does not go to end of blade). Black plastic grips. Marker marked US PAL (for Pal Blade and Tool) with ordnance flaming bomb symbol. Approximately 9 3/4 inch blade with some very small edge type nicks. Very worn condition with what appears to be a repainted or touched up scabbard.
Additional Notes: The U.S. M1 bayonet with a 10-inch blade was a standard issue for the U.S. Army during WW2. It was designed for the M1 Garand rifle and was shorter than the previous 16-inch M1905 bayonet, making it more practical for close combat situations. Many of these bayonets were produced by companies like American Fork and Hoe (AFH), Oneida Limited (OL), Pal Blade and Tool (PAL), and Utica Cutlery (UC). The 10-inch blade version was often marked with the U.S. Ordnance flaming bomb symbol
