American Tin Type in case. Case in decent condition. Picture very heavily worn and scratched. Size of case is about 2 1/2 inches X 3 inches. Most likely 1860s-1870s era. Worn condition.
Additional Notes: The tintype saw the American Civil War come and go, documenting personal photos, soldier pictures, and typical scenery. It also captured scenes from the Wild West. The tintype is a photograph made by creating a direct positive on a thin sheet of metal coated with a dark lacquer or enamel and used as the support for the photographic emulsion. Tintypes enjoyed their greatest use during the 1860s and 1870s.
