Originally produced by the PAL Cutlery Company, this knife was part of the US military’s efforts to equip soldiers with reliable tools for survival and combat. The “RH” in its name stands for “Remington Hunting,” as the design was inherited from Remington Arms when they sold their cutlery division to PAL in 1941. The “36” indicates the model and its 6-inch blade length. These knives were issued to U.S. Army Air Corps personnel and were designed for both survival tasks and combat. Made from high-carbon steel, some later models featured a parkerized finish to reduce glare and improve durability.
