WW2 German AH Bust – Signed Schmidt Hofer . EFL4761

WW2 German AH Bust in NSDAP organization shirt and tie. Appears to be a Bronzed Spelter or Zinc-alloy type metal. Artist signed on back of bust: Schmidt Hofer. Size approximately 7 1/2 inches in height. Worn condition.

Additional Notes: Schmidt-Hofer was involved in the making of many sculptures during the rise of the Third Reich Period. Apart from formal busts, he also undertook the sculpturing of a variety of animal subjects.

Spelter is a zinc–lead alloy that ages to resemble bronze, but is softer and has a lower melting point. The name can also refer to a copper–zinc alloy (a brass) used for brazing, or to pure zinc.
