Additional Notes: The WW2 German Luftwaffe wrist compass, known as the AK39 (Armbandkompass 1939), was a crucial piece of equipment for Luftwaffe pilots during WW2. This compass was designed to be worn on the wrist, allowing pilots to navigate effectively during their missions. The AK39 featured a black bakelite housing with a floating scale that had large luminous divisions for easy reading in low-light conditions. The compass was filled with petroleum (kerosene) to ensure smooth operation. It was produced in two types: black and white, with technical differences and distinct mounting options. The compass was marked with the maker and model information, including the Luftwaffe register number Fl23235, which stands for Fliegermaterial (aeronautical materiel). The original wrist straps were made of leather and were designed to be worn over a flight suit or fixed on the instrument panel.
