United States Army WW2 Blister Gas Protective Individual (Cover, Protective) Pack. The pack is marked: Cover, Protective, Individual, Stock No. 72-C-1000 Contract No. W-36-030-QM 18738 and dated May 1945. Size approximately 7 inches x 4 inches. Worn condition.

 

Additional Notes: The Cover, Protective, Individual from 1945, often referred to as a gas cape, was designed to protect soldiers from blister gas attacks during WW2. These covers were made from clear and dark green plastic, allowing soldiers to see through the top while being protected. When unfolded, they could shield a soldier, his weapon, and equipment. They were also versatile enough to be used as an overhead cover in a foxhole or to line its bottom.
