Additional Notes: The WW2 United States Army American Red Cross (ARC) HBT Ditty Bag is a piece of military equipment used during WW2. HBT stands for Herringbone Twill, which is the fabric used to make the bag. These bags were typically used to carry personal items, sewing kits, or other small essentials by soldiers.
HBT fabric was first used widely by the U.S. military during the mid-20th century, particularly in WW2 era uniforms and gear. Its distinctive herringbone pattern provided durability and resistance to wear, making it ideal for military applications. Over time, it became a symbol of rugged, reliable design, something that can be seen in the enduring popularity of vintage HBT gear today.
