Additional Notes: The WW2 German Kriegsmarine High Seas Fleet War Badge (Das Flottenkriegsabzeichen) was a WW2 German military badge awarded to the crews of the Kriegsmarine High Seas Fleet. Instituted in April of 1941, it recognized service on battleships and cruisers, as well as ships that supported them operationally. The badge features a forward-sailing battleship in grey, surrounded by a gold laurel wreath of oak leaves, with the German Eagle clutching a swastika at the top. It was worn on the lower part of the left breast pocket of the naval service tunic, underneath the 1st class Iron Cross if awarded. To be eligible, one needed 12 weeks of service on a battleship or cruiser, with proof of distinction and good conduct. The criteria could be reduced if the recipient was wounded, killed, or participated in notable naval engagements.
