WW2 German Iron Cross 2nd Class “24” . GO5104

$170.00

WW2 German Iron Cross 2nd Class. Marker marked on ring “24” (for the marker of Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Hanauer Plakettenhersteller). Iron Cross is multi-piece construction with iron core (magnet sticks to core). Nice long piece of ribbon. Worn condition with heavy wear to iron core as typically for these “24” marked iron crosses.

Additional Notes: The 1939 Iron Cross 2nd Class (Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse) was a military medal issued by Germany during WW2. It was awarded for acts of bravery in the face of the enemy or for actions clearly above and beyond the call of duty. The medal itself had a black core cross made typically out of Iron (however, there are also occasional variations with brass-alloy or zinc cores) with typically a separate nickel-silver (Neusilver) frame (again, occasionally you can find one-piece iron crosses with core and frame as one single piece). It was worn from the second buttonhole of the tunic.
