Description
WW2 German General Assault Badge (GAB). Stamped zinc-based badge. Sheet metal hinge. Worn condition.
Additional Notes: The WW2 German General Assault Badge (GAB) was a military badge awarded during WW2 by Germany. It was introduced in June of 1940, by General Walther von Brauchitsch. This badge was designed for personnel who supported infantry attacks but were not part of specific infantry units, such as combat engineers, artillery, anti-aircraft, and anti-tank units. The badge featured an oval disk with a wreath of oak leaves, a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a swaz, and crossed bayonet and stick grenade motifs. It was worn on the left chest pocket of the uniform. Over time, additional classes were introduced to recognize soldiers who participated in numerous attacks, with higher grades.
