Additional Notes: The WW2 German Spanish Cross (Spanienkreuz) was a military badge awarded by WW2 Germany to German soldiers who participated in the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). Instituted in April of 1939, the Spanish Cross recognized the contributions of German forces, particularly the Condor Legion, who supported General Francisco Franco’s Nationalist forces. The Spanish Cross came in four classes: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Gold with Diamonds, with distinctions for combatants (with swords) and non-combatants (without swords). The badge itself features an eight-pointed convex cross with a mobile swaz in the center.
