German Artillery Officer Sword WKC . SG85

German Artillery NCO/Officer Sword. Triple engraved blade with artillery type scenes (soldiers on horseback pulling cannons, crossed cannons, etc.) Marker marked on blade ricasso with the WKC knight’s head logo. Blade in average condition and still has leather blade buffer pad in place. Black bakelite (plastic) covered wood core grip with triple wire wrap, the wire wrap is loose in several places. The nickel-plated steel hilt fittings in worn condition. Black painted single ring scabbard with some wear, scratches, and paint loss in areas. Blade length approximately 32 inches, approximately 38 inches overall length in scabbard. Most likely 1920s-1940s (Wiemar-WW2) era. Worn condition with loose wire wrap on grip.

Additional Notes: The Weimar Republic was Germany’s government from 1919 to 1933, the period after WW1 until the rise of WW2 Germany. It was named after the town of Weimar where Germany’s new government was formed by a national assembly after Kaiser Wilhelm II abdicated.
