WW2 Japanese Army Officer Parade Sword – General . SJ206

WW2 Japanese Army Officer Parade Sword. High ranking officer (General rank) grade sword (backstrap design covers a majority of the area of backstrap and grip is made of tortoise shell). The triple wire wrapped tortoise shell grip is average condition with small areas of the wire wrap slightly coming loose at portions and chip area near bottom and top areas of grip, however, still has a nice display look. The pierced gilded brass D-guard and pommel has nice looking patina. Ten petal cherry blossom decorations (for the Army) on each side of the backstrap “ears” and 3 cherry blossoms down the back of the back strap design. The machine-made chrome plated blade with artificial wavy temper line in good basic condition with some small nicks, scratches, and issues.  The scabbard has some wear to the steel-based nickel-plated scabbard. Blade length approximately 30 3/4 inches.
