WW2 Japanese Army Officer Sword Latch Button. Has the button and pressure leveler for pushing against the tang, however, the actual latch tip portion is bent and damaged a bit. This one appears to be brass based, typically, for the early to mid-war swords. Still good if you want to replace a button that is totally missing, or if you want to utilize as restoration project piece.
