WW2 Japanese Army Officer Sword with Dragon Etch . SJ340

WW2 Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) Officer Sword (Shin-gunto). Blade in nice overall condition with nice wavy harmon (temper line) with dragon etch on blade along with other kanji. One-hole nakago (tang) is nicely signed on both sides. The blade habaki (blade collar) is single piece basic brass type. The sword has a brass tsuba (hand guard) with interesting 4 sections of kanji in boxes on one side. The military-style hilt (tsuka) is the typical officer type, it is constructed of a wood base, covered in ray skin with the traditional 3 brass cherry blossoms, with brown wrap. The top pommel area has a little bit of wiggle to it. The push button lock is missing on this one. The metal scabbard (saya) is in decent condition, however, does not quite fit the sword, basically, sword does not go all the way in scabbard, it sticks out about 1 inch, could use a better fitting scabbard. Overall, a nice condition ww2 Army Officer sword with a well signed tang on both sides with a very nice dragon etch on blade.
