United States Navy Officer Dress Blue Jacket. Rank on the end of sleeve is for a Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) Line Officer. All six gilt navy buttons still in place. Private tailor label on interior pocket marked: F.R.Tripler & Co, New York, Tailored by Hickey-Freeman and named to: F.B.Fisher 2-2344 and size marked: 40 Short. Size approximately 18 inches shoulder to shoulder, about 20 inches armpit to armpit, and about 23 inches from shoulder to end of sleeve. Most likely 1940s-1950s era. Worn condition.
Additional Notes: The U.S. Navy Officer’s Dress Blue Uniform was a three-piece uniform which included a cap, jacket, and trousers made from various types of wool, such as gabardine and elastique. The double-breasted jacket was fully lined and had six adorning gilt buttons bearing an eagle clutching an anchor. Rank insignia was worn around the lower sleeve.
