United States Navy Peacoat. Double-breasted front with large navy plastic buttons. Missing several of the buttons on the coat (only has 2 buttons left). Naval Clothing Factory Tag on interior size marked 34R. Also, has white navy name stenciling on lower interior: Eagle, WB. Not sure the date on this one, however, I believe most likely 1940s-1950s era. Very worn condition.
Additional Notes: The US Navy peacoat is an iconic piece of military clothing. Originally designed for sailors, it was made from heavy, navy-blue wool to provide warmth and protection against harsh sea conditions. The coat is characterized by its double-breasted front, broad lapels, and large buttons often featuring an anchor motif. The wool used was typically Kersey or Melton, known for its durability and water-resistant properties. The peacoat’s design has remained largely unchanged over the years, and it continues to be a popular fashion item today, blending functionality with timeless style.
