US 69th Infantry Division Patch – WW2 . USP291

United States 69th Infantry Division shoulder sleeve insignia (patch). The patch is fully embroidered with a snowy back. Worn condition. Most likely 1940s (WW2) era. The patch does not react to UV light (does not glow under blacklight).

Additional Notes: The U.S. 69th Infantry Division, nicknamed the “Fighting 69th,” was a Division of the U.S. Army formed during WW2. The shoulder sleeve insignia of the division was designed by its then commander Maj. Gen. Charles Bolte with the red, white and blue being the colors of the United States forming a “6” and a “9”. The 69th Infantry Division arrived in England in December of 1944. The division landed in Le Havre, France, in January of 1945, and moved to Belgium to relieve the 99th Division in February of 1945 and hold defensive positions in the Siegfried Line.
