Soviet Medal for Battle Merit (Combat Service). I believe this is a type 2 variation 4 unnumbered utilized from just after ww2 through the cold war. The medal is suspended from a standard Soviet pentagonal mount covered by ribbon. Aluminum-alloy based suspension plate. Worn condition.

Additional Notes: The Soviet Medal for Battle Merit (Combat Service) was a Soviet military medal awarded for combat actions resulting in a military success, courageous defense of the state borders, or successful military and political training and preparation. It was also awarded for 10 years of service prior to the creation of the long service awards. It was created in October of 1938.
